The Truthicon Hack Day was an action-oriented event, that aimed to identify, propose, and develop technology resources, processes, or institutional approaches that would address the challenges identified during the previous day’s discussions. In practice, this meant outputs such as a guide or code of conduct for journalists or media organizations, new functionality for a tool such as Media Cloud, a browser plug-in, a new collaboration among media watchdog organizations, or other ideas and opportunities. Larger, longer term, or less understood issues was also be identified and added to the research agenda, which informed work and study in the coming years and enabled us to build upon and dig more deeply into near term solutions.
